Walk north....(or four stations in one day)

I've got to go north today...but not so far that I can't walk it, just gotta get into my stride...

Time to leave the Southbank behind...

Not such a good view east into the morning sun from Waterloo bridge...

A much better view west over Hungerford bridge and into Westminster...

The streets get pretty crowded as soon as I get over to the north side of the river...

So I'll just follow the trail of buses north round Aldwych and up Kingsway...

The range of architectural styles never ceases to amaze me...

though some folk clearly see them as painting canvases...

It gets distinctly more gothic the further north I get...

Thistle, Bloomsbury park hotel.
And then it just surprises you with something like this...

http://www.cryptgallery.org.uk/

Which appears to have some raptor dentures on the lawn...

Anyway back to the architecture appreciation...

I need to turn right here... (that's Euston under the tower block by the way)

Walk along past this chap...

Just a little bit further...

Here we are... they just don't build stations like this anymore....

St. Pancras

Its hard to believe that behind all these intricate carvings of dragons there are intercity trains...

But there are... look...

It's a lot more inspiring than its next door neighbour...

King's cross

Anyway after a very long and slightly tedious meeting it was time to go home...so I decided to take the more scenic route.  I love this about London-  one road off to the side of the main route and you find some quirky alleys...

or shady parks...

and its not long till I'm back into ooohing and aaahing over interesting architecture again...

The View west isn't so good in the afternoon...

but the view east is much clearer...

Thank fully there's a big mosaic sign to stop me getting too distracted....

and in no time at all.....I'm back where I started...
