Love hearts tombola

I'm a bit disappointed to be missing the chance to go to the Festival of Quilts this year, (got too much other stuff on in August ...but more of that later) doubly so as Region 2 of the quilters guild are hosting the fund raising tombola.

Region 2 is Kent, Surrey and Sussex so my home "branch" of the guild...so I didn't really want to let the side down.  If I cant be there to part with some pennies to help with the fund raising then I really ought to help by making something for them to give away as prizes....

There was a whole website full of ideas about "love hearts" and I found a piece of fabric that seemed perfect for the job....

The trial demo model seemed to be coming out right....

There was nothing else for it but to start a production line...
First cut all the fabric, wadding and lining fabric...

Then layer them together right sides of lining and fabric together....

Pin the layers together and remember to leave a big enough gap to be able to turn it all through when you've sewn it all together...

I've got to remember not to be intimidated by the size of he pile waiting to be sewn and just focus on sewing one at a time...

Turning them inside out can be a bit of a fiddle.....

Just tack the little hole closed then "quilt as desired", as it says in all the good quilting magazines...

The trouble is that all that quilting always leave a lot of lose ends to be sewn in...

A quick addition of a felt lining for needles or pins...

GGgggrrrrrrr   ....yet more lose ends to be sewn in....

and I'm nearly there.....

An evening with Quilters of Sutton and the buttons and button loops were finished ready for the big
"Ta-dah"

Sixteen needle cases soon to be on their way to the festival of Quilts tombola!
